Since 2014 Andrew Jones has been the Cabinet Member for the Economy in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham where he also represents Shepherd’s Bush Green ward. With the Leader he developed the Borough’s Local Industrial Strategy in 2016, focused on the development of the White City Innovation District along with inclusive and sustainable growth that builds on the Borough’s strong economic base in biotech, media and digital industries. He has also led on an arts strategy grounded in culture-led regeneration as well as goal of delivering a new civic campus for Hammersmith and over 1500 genuinely affordable homes by 2022. Beyond local government, he is a Professor of Economic Geography at City, University of London where is leads within the senior team on research and enterprise activity. Linked to this he is currently chairing an international comparative project examining the role of universities within London’s entrepreneurial ecosystem for part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
